The perfect 1930's Collectible!  Two American heroes on one lamp.  Lamp was made to commemorate & memorialize the deaths of both noted aviation pioneer Wiley Post (1898-1935) & famed humorist Will Rogers (1879-1935) who died in tragic plane crash in Alaska in 1935.  It was made by the Gibralter Electric Company of Jersey City, NJ who made novelty lamps, clocks etc.
You can research the lives of both of these American legends, they are fascinating reads. Will Rogers was one of the most "liked" & popular men in American & World Wide in the 1930's & Post was a mega hero celeb himself, much like Amelia Earhart & Charles Lindbergh.
The lamp itself features a cast metal raised relief base with Post & Rogers faces & an Airplane marked W.P. X-12-0 over a globe (the one they crashed). The cast metal has a metallic copper color finish.  Appears mostly original except for the shade riser.  These lamps originally had a glass globe from the research we could find, but may have been sold with other options.  The shade riser may have been added later for better lighting, as the frosted globes kind of muted the light.  The electric cord looks frayed but that is only the outer string wrapping, it is fairly solid & looks original or at least very old. The actual cast metal lamp is one of the best conditioned ones I could find, certainly in the top 5% of them.
The lamp shade in pictures is not included & the top finial that holds a shade on is missing, but easily replaced for a few dollars.
One similar to this sold for 0 a while back on eBay, but is no longer in eBay searches.  We sold a second lamp like this on eBay for 0 in 2018 that had one of the original glass globes.  Also, we found where another owner of one of these lamps with the original globe had inquired from a popular antique website as to the item's value and they estimated value over ,000.  We could not reprint the post & pictures for copyright reasons. Several others not on listed eBay are valued well above our list price as well.
Ultimately value is determined by buyers at any given time.
