Charles W. Holman [1898 1931] was a stunt pilot, barnstormer, wing walker, parachutist, airmail pilot, airline pilot and and world record holder. Holman was taught to fly by Walter Bullock in 1917 and his first license was signed by Orville Wright. During his aviation career he won numerous air races and in 1929 he was the lead pilot for Northwest airlines and in 1930 he won the Thompson Trophy race. Holman died on May 17, 1931 in a crash while performing at the opening of a airport in Omaha, Nebraska. Listed for auction is the autograph of Charles W. Holman signed on a aviation related commemorative postal cover. The cover commemorates a Airport Dedication June 28-29 1930 in Wisconsin and the autograph is signed ''Chase W. Holman'' in black fountain pen. The cover is dual postmarked June28/29 1930 and is affixed with one U.S air mail postage stamp. The cover measures 6.50 x 3.50 inches, it has trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition. The autograph is authentic, rare to obtain and the cover will be a desirable addition to any aviation collection.
